Introduction to Bora Bora
Declared the most beautiful island in the world by James Michener, her unequaled beauty has drawn artists and writers from around the world.
Bora Bora was originally named Pora Pora, as the letter “B” does not exist in the Tahitian language. As a result, when Captain Cook first heard the name, he mistook the soft pronunciation of the P and understood the name of the island was Bola Bola. Today we simply call her Bora Bora. Emerged from the ocean about 7 million years ago, Bora Bora means “first born” in Tahitian. Consequently, it also happens to be the most famous of French Polynesia’s islands.

Because there is only one navigable pass, the lagoon is crystal-clear, calm, warm and relatively shallow. Even by Tahitian standards, the lagoon here is exceptional. As a result, we are certain you will find this to be the ultimate tropical paradise. While Mount Otemanu towers over the main island at 2,385 feet and next to it, the more rounded Mount Pahia stands at 2,159 feet, many have referred to these mountains as castles piercing the sky. From her dramatic mountain peaks to her turquoise lagoon. From her overwater bungalows to her star-filled sky, it may seem you’ve entered a different reality. As a result, we’re certain you’ll find Bora Bora to be the romantic capital of the universe.
Where is Bora Bora?
Bora Bora is located 143 miles northwest of Tahiti. After flying to the main island of Tahiti, you’ll board Air Tahiti — the local inter-island airline, and 50 minutes later you’ll arrive in paradise. The main island of Bora Bora is about 6 miles long by 2.5 miles wide. Along the coral reef surrounding Bora Bora, you’ll find many motus (islands). It is here you’ll find most of the resorts.
I would have to say my favorite place on earth is Bora Bora.

ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS IN BORA BORA
Because your time in Bora Bora will be centered around the lagoon, you need to get out there and snorkel, paddle board and kayak. Go jet skiing and scuba diving. And by all means get out there and go swimming with manta rays! The lagoon in Bora Bora is meant to be enjoyed. You land lovers need to get out there and discover the splendor of Mt. Otemanu and Mt. Tahia. Because there are so many wonderful trails, you have the option of half or full day guided hikes. All of which we’ll be happy to organize for you. Furthermore, there are less strenuous options available. Try an ATV/Quad or enjoy being a passenger in a 4×4 as you explore the inner island. Visit ancient marae (stone temples) and see old American canons from WWII.Thrill seekers may prefer getting a bird’s eye view of the island by parasailing or chartering a helicopter. In conclusion, no matter how you choose to enjoy Bora Bora, make sure find your special way to enjoy all she has to offer.
