Tahiti: The Ultimate Destination Wedding
Couples from around the world will soon be able to LEGALLY marry
in Tahiti!
For those who desire a real Tahiti wedding, your dream is about
to come true. The current law makes it difficult for foreigners
to become legally married on Tahiti & Her Islands. So, couples
to be usually have an official ceremony in their home country and
take part in a symbolic one here in Tahiti. But not anymore, with
the imminent passing of a significant change in French law, as written
about in Tahitipresse.pf
couples from outside of French Polynesia will soon be able to legally
marry in what has often been called the most beautiful place on
earth:
"A French government official has opened the door to tourist
marriages in Tahiti that could result in a new market of some 10,000-15,000
more American visitors yearly, according to French Polynesia President
Gaston Tong Sang.
French Overseas State Secretary Yves Jégo told American
tour operators and travel agencies during a meeting in Los Angeles
this past week that the visa situation to allow foreigners to marry
in Tahiti should be changed within the next six months. The objective,
he said, will be to make it easier for Americans to obtain visas
for marriages, according to Tong Sang."
We at True Tahiti will be tracking up to the moment developments
on this exciting change in visa requirements. We also look forward
to providing you with the vital information you need to make your
wedding dreams come true here in Tahiti & Her Islands, including
the introduction of our very own wedding planning services. So sign
up for the True Tahiti
newsletter, or forward this on to someone you know who is looking
to tie the knot in paradise!
Tahitian Wedding Celebrations and Renewal of Vows Ceremonies
The beauty of a Tahitian wedding celebration can be a memorable
highlight for honeymoon couples or couples celebrating an anniversary
or renewing their wedding vows. At this time, wedding ceremonies in Tahiti & Her Islands are
legally non-binding and can be as simple and private as a romantic
sunset ceremony with a Tahitian priest, or an elaborate affair with
spectacular musicians and dancers.
Couples are usually bedecked in bright pareu, flowers and shells.
The groom is brought to the beachside ceremony location in a canoe,
while the bride is majestically carried on a rattan throne. Music
and dancers enhance the ceremony while a Tahitian priest performs
the rites and bestows upon the couple their new Tahitian names.
