Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti
Unlike the other large hotels in Tahiti, the Radisson Plaza Resort
is not located near the airport. Depending on traffic it’s
about a 20-30-minute drive from the airport and 10 minutes to downtown
Papeete. Located in Matavai Bay on Tahiti’s East Coast, this
is the black sand beach where everyone from Captain Cook to Bouganville
first dropped anchor. The Radisson is far enough away to make you
feel like you are out of the city yet close enough to allow you
to enjoy all downtown Papeete has to offer. All 165 rooms have ocean
views and from the hotel you can see the island of Moorea. The Radisson
has done a great job of bringing a contemporary interpretation to
Tahitian style. They are only hotel to currently offer high-speed
internet access along with 24-hour access to their business center.
In addition the Radisson also has a fantastic full service spa and
health club, making this the perfect place to rejuvenate after a
long flight.
InterContinental Resort Tahiti
Located closed to the airport, The InterContinental Tahiti has 270
rooms and 32 Overwater Bungalows. This is large resort with lovely
views of Moorea in the distance. The hotel has two swimming pools
with poolside bars, two restaurants, two tennis courts, volleyball
& badminton courts, a jogging trail and newly installed golf
practice range and putting/pitching greens. A great feature of the
hotel is the Tahitian dance show every Wednesday, Friday & Saturday
night.
Sheraton Tahiti
Close to both the airport and downtown Papeete, the Sheraton Tahiti
is the ideal hotel for those wanting comfort and convenience. This
is the perfect hotel if you have one last day in Tahiti before catching
your international flight. You can step right outside the hotel
and hop on Le Truck to do last minute shopping at Le Marche, the
open-air market. Each of the 200 rooms offers views of either the
lagoon or garden. A key feature of this hotel is the Mandara Spa.
Le Meridien Tahiti
Located in Punaauia on a white sand beach, Le Meridien offers wonderful
views of Moorea, Each of the 138 Ocean View Rooms and Suites and
the 12 Overwater Bungalows has a private deck. The hotel has a sand-bottom
pool and tennis court as well as a wide range of water sports.
Sofitel Tahiti
Close to the airport, the Sofitel Tahiti underwent major renovations
in 2005. All 216 rooms are decorated in bright colors and have a
small balcony. While the rooms are not large, they are a much nicer
alternative to the few budget hotels in Tahiti. Rooms at the Sofitel
either look out to the island of Moorea, the mountains of Tahiti
or the hotel gardens. The hotel has wireless internet, satellite
flat screen TV’s, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a wide
range of water sports.
Hotel Tiare Tahiti
Located along the waterfront in the heart of downtown Papeete is
the 5-story Tiare Tahiti. With a total of 35 rooms, the 17 Sea View
Rooms provide great views of the harbor and island of Moorea in
the distance. This is a clean moderately priced hotel that will
have you in the center of all the action. From here you can walk
to Le Marche or you can visit all the roulottes selling everything
from steak & fries to poisson cru, Chinese food and ice cream.
Le Royal Tahitien
Located next to a black sand beach, this 40-room hotel offers clean
simple accommodations in a tranquil garden setting. The hotel provides
a relaxed atmosphere in which to unwind. The restaurant and bar
face the island of Moorea.
